Basement

I am happy to report that today we are having drywall installed in our basement family room. YEAHHHH. We are so excited to be able to have this space ready to use. As you can see from the pictures we have all new doors and windows in the basement. Our brother in law has insulated, studded, re done the electrical, put new lights in, changed our wood fireplace to gas, etc. It is looking awesome and we are excited for the drywall. Then we just need some paint and carpet and we are ready to go. I have included some new pics and then some old to see where it has come from......

Hey guys, thought I would drop by a little note since it has been FOREVER since my last post. I have been having issues with my camera, therfore no random pics of stuff. Thaddeus and I have both been busy with work and church. We are excited that we have had our brother in law working on our basement and it is coming along quite nicely. I will see if I can get some pics up of the progress this week. We will be really glad when it is finished. Not much new here, the weather is starting to warm up and my plants are starting to come to life. I had surgery in early January and I have been recovering really well. I have been SUPER busy at work hiring lots of poeple for different companies(it has been exciting that we have jobs for people), in this economy. Thaddeus has also been super busy with his work. I am excited to head to Seattle in a couple weeks with my sister for a mini weekend vacation. Besides that not much else is new we have just been spending time with family and friends. I would love to hear from you so drop me a note!!!

We were able to go to Moab last weekend with some friends and family. It was a bit chilly but we were still able to get in some hiking. We had a lot of fun.

Thaddeus and I were commenting this morning how beautiful our backyard is now with all the snow....

We were sitting in our kitchen looking out the back window. Although sometimes I am not the happiest with the snow, God sure did send us a beautiful reminder of His pureness and grace, "washing us white as snow".

Rock-N-Roll Marathon in Vegas!

We headed to Vegas for the weekend to support Thaddeus in running the 1/2 marathon. He did awesome!!! I was quite impressed. The race started at 6 am and it was only like 30 degrees outside, I was freezing. There were 28,000 runners!!! It was a lot of fun.

Thaddeus and I have been quite busy over the last few months. My job has really picked up and we have been hiring people like crazy (good sign for the Ogden economy). Thaddeus also decided to join up with one of his friends from undergrad and another friend to form a law firm. He moved his office to Kaysville (a bummer since it was so close to our house but great so they can get business from Ogden and Salt Lake) and they joined together. This has been very busy but also very exciting. He has been able to maintain all his previous clients plus continue to add more. We are so thankful to family and friends for all of the referrals. He is now a partner in Garn, Feller & Wendt, LLC. Has a nice ring to it.

Some of you may know I have been helping out with Leentje's go group from church(a group of just newly seventh grade girls). They decided before they went back to school they would like to have a camp out in my backyard. Here a lot of them all crammed in one tent. It was a lot of fun to have a campfire, scavenger hunt and sleeping under the stars!A view from my porch.

Although I think they were up until 3 in the morning(hopefully they were far enough down there that my neighbors didn't here). It was really a lot of fun. Some of the girls had never been camping before so it was fun to give them a small taste of what it is like. We roasted hot dogs and smore on the fire and told stories!!!

And yes, I slept in a tent as well

Beach House

I know it has been awhile. I decided I would try to catch up on some of the last couple months. The beginning of August we were able to have a family reuinion at the beach in Newport/Balboa Beach California. It was a ton of fun and a great relaxing vacation. I took loads of pictures so I though I could share a few. Below is my grandma and my cousin's daughter Leentje. It was really nice while we in Cali to be able to see Thaddeus' sister Mary Beth and her daughter Sanali, we were able to stay a night at their house and then she came up and stayed a night with us at the beach.

A couple weeks ago Thaddeus and I went to Lagoon with my cousin and her family. I hadn't been there for like 8 years so it was a lot of fun. Here we are on the Roaring Rapids ride. WET, WET , WET. Here is Cole on the car ride.

We were trying to get Cole to go on this mini drop ride(kind of like Tower of Terror at Disneyland), but he chickened out at the last minute and Leentje got stuck on the kiddie ride alone. (He did end up going on the ride the next time he went to Lagoon).

So for the last eight days the weather report has been unfortunately very accurate. We have had rain and rain and more rain, and overall just really gloomy. (I feel like I am living in Oregon). I am happy to report that I woke up this morning and saw a beautiful blue sky outside. Unfortunately the next eight days forecast look like the above. Thank the Lord he gave me one day of sunshine. (He knew I needed it)

Viva Las Vegas!

This past weekend some of our friends invited us to go to Las Vegas. Thaddeus and I both took off on Friday and headed down. We then headed back Sunday afternoon. Below is the resort we stayed at. It was beautiful. They had a great pool as you can see and also a lazy river, which was a lot of fun. The weather in Vegas was warm but not so stifling hot like a lot of the times when we go so it was a fabulous weekend. For some reason my hand was shaky when i took pictures of The Strip.

We really had a blast getting away for a three day weekend. It was really relaxing and Thaddeus was even able to get some golfing in. We were able to go to the restaurant below. For those of you who can't read because yet again it is blurry, we went to Toby Keith's, I love this Bar and Grill Restaurant, it had delicious food!

FLOOD!!!

Last night we had a huge thunderstorm. It was pouring rain and there was tons of thunder and lightning. Our stream in the backyard was just roaring so Thaddeus and I decided to venture down to see just how high it was. WELL, we didnt get past the bottom of our steps when we noticed our bottom yard by the stream had become a part of the stream. YEP the stream overflowed right into our back yard. Sorry no pics of the stream because I couldn't get close enough (it is beyond the red firepit in the picture).

I find the whole flooding thing slightly humorous for two reasons. 1. Our neighbor told us the other day that the bottom yard occassionally floods (Thaddeus and I kind of laughed it off), and 2. When we got out house we had this huge discussion about whether we were in a flood plane or not with the loan/mortgage people. We arent thankfully beacuse our house is way higher than the stream and we would have to have another flood from God (Noah flood) to get to our house but the carzy thing was they said we were not in a flood plane without even knowing their was a stream in our backyard. My one praise is the fact that we just tilled some land down by the stream for a garden. We bought things to plant yesterday but didnt get a chance to plant them. THANK THE LORD!!! They would have been toast. Hopefully when I get home today and survey the damage all of our top soil hasn't washed away in the stream.

Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains

While we were in Tn visiting Devin we were able to rent a cabin up in the Smoky Mountains outside of Gatlinburg. It was a lot of fun and our cabin was really awesome. It had a pool table/air hockey, hot tub, and a great view of the Smoky's.

This was the view fromt he cabin. We stayed in a cabin with the company Sugar Maple Cabins. I defnitely recommend them. Our cabin was called Blue Heaven.

Nashville

A few weeks ago we were able to go visit Devin in TN. My mom and dad came with us as they had never been to TN before. We flew into Nashville and stayed their the first night. It was fun to get to walk around Nashville and see the sights. Behind us in this picture is the Country Music Hall of Fame. Behind my mom and dad in this picture is downtown Nashville.

Across the river from downtown is the TN Titans arena.

In Downtown Nashville they have a replica with a museum inside of the Parthenon. They call Nashville the Athens of the East.

On our way to Knoxville we stopped by The Hermitage, which was the home of President Andrew Jackson and where he is buried.

Hey guys just a quick update to let you know how things at the house are going. We have completely painted the upstairs. We wanted to get it done before heading for TN, so some of the smell can be gone before we get back and move in. Although the pictures looked nice before, trust me they did a really crappy, lazy job painting. It is now looking fabulous. They got paint all over everything, the molding, the floor, and only one coat on the walls so you could see through it at points. Well now I do have to say it is amazing. My mom and dad have been awesome and we have gotten a lot done in such a short time. We are excited to head out to TN on a vacay and are excited to come home and move in!!!

So I wasn't going to show you the pictures but I thought what the heck. The basement is definitely our project. We are not going to finish it off right now but we wanted to rip everything out so when we did get to doing that we won't create all the dust to the upstairs.

That is what I call our work in progress. Maybe when we finish it up I will show before and after pics. Basically downstairs there is a huge family room (with a 1960s carpeted bar currently), a gas fireplace, two rooms/a bathroom and a huge closet. The upstairs and yard definitely need some tender loving care. We are alos planning some major curb appeal for the front. But here you go for now!!!!

I know many of you are thinking house? what house? Well random enough a woman from our church who is a realtor called me on Monday and said a house just went on the market she thought Thaddeus and I would like. She asked if I wanted to go look at it with her. Now let me note that Thaddeus and I have not been looking at houses at all. So I asked Thaddeus if he wanted to tag along and we all went to check it out Monday afternoon. We really loved it and saw a lot of potential in the unfinished basement. We are also very excited about the backyard. It is very private and even has a creek running through it. So long story short my parents and sister looked at it and on Wednesday we decided to go for it and make a low offer. Well crazy enough the realtor called us on Thursday night and they had accepted our offer. Not even counter offer but accepted it. It has definitely been a God thing. Please pray that everything goes through with the inspection and loan and if so we will be in by the end of March. I will have more pictures to come!!!

This past weekend we were able to travel out to TN to visit Devin. Thankfully we got there(after getting transfered to a different plane and city-long story). We were able to spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday with him. We went to a 3D movie(Coraline-horrible dont go!!!), Chuck E Cheese, TN Bball game, Go carts, Mini-golf and out to eat a few times. (We even snuck in some sushi on Valentine night). We had a lot of fun and it was great to see him.

So my mom and I decided to start working out together. We are sick of being overweight and decided to join a local gym. I have to say it has been going well. We joined on Tuesday and have gone every day since. We have been trying to do some cardio and then lifting weights. I have to say for anyone in the area who isnt a member of a gym this one is really nice. No kids and lots of machines.

I was sorely disappointed when the below clown came out with his stupid pink bunny luck charm and then told people he was from Ogden, Utah. Seriously, why do retards on tv have to make the whole country think of giant pink bunnies when they think of Ogden. UGHHHH!!!

I got tagged to do this High School survey thingy by Nate and thought, what the heck, it is slow at work and I have time. Why not travel back in time to my High School Days.

1. Did you date someone in high school? lol, wow I would really like to skip this question. There is always the question of what do you consider dating, lol, I dated a few.

2. What kind of car did you drive? Since my mom taught at the elementary school I rode with her a lot of the time in a Pontiac GrandAm. My senior year I was able to drive my lovely 2001 Honda Civic. I loved it and still do. (not fun when the idiot hit me in the parking lot when it was only 2 weeks old).

3. Did you pass your driver's license test the first time? Oh yeah, I took it at a local High School. It was funny to be in the same class with a kid that used to call me Ashley weird last name in Elementary School.

4. Were you a party animal? As much as you can be at a private school.

5. Were you considered a flirt? I don't think so. I think some people may have said that because I hung out with all the guys. But that was more because all the girls were moody and the guys were a lot more fun.

6. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? None of them!

7. Were you a nerd? No, I may have gotten good grades but definitely not the nerd of the class.

8. Did you ever get expended or expelled? No, just kicked out of class a lot for too much talking.

9. Can you still sing your fight song? I honestly don't even think we had a fight song.

10. Who were your favorite teachers? I loved most of my teachers but Mr. Parker, Mr. Hembrock, and Mr. Martin were some of my favorite.

11. Where did you sit at lunch? I moved around from day to day. I enjoyed hanging out with the guys at lunch a lot. They were pretty funny.

12. What sports did you play? lol, the question more is what I did not play. I played basketball, volleyball, cross country, etc.

13. Were you on any varsity teams? I was on the Varisty basketball and volleyball teams. Regions Champs!!!! I miss my best gal pal in sports Megan!

14. School mascot and colors? An Eagle, Maroon and silver. GO EAGLES!

15. Did you go to homecoming and who with? I didn't really go to homecoming(we didnt really have on per say) but I did go to a couple of dances. I went with Matt and Robby.

16. If you could go back and do it again, would you? I loved High School but I am also glad that part of my life is over.

17. What do you remember most about graduation? I was the first graduate of the first graduating class. What, what!

18. Where did you go on Senior Skip Day? Didn't have one, I always was at school. I remember one day we skipped classes to meet this guy I liked at the time and then the principal found out and lectured us when we got back. But I got out of getting in any real trouble.

19. Were you in any clubs? Hmm, good question. I am sure I was but my brain is at a loss currently.

20. Have you gained weight since then? lol, yeah lets not talk about that.

21. Who was your prom date? Like I said I went to dances but can't distinguish who for what.

22. Are you planning on going to your 10 year reunion? I would actually love to that would be really fun.

23. Did you have a job while in high school? No, I was too busy with sports and Early College.

I have been wanting to post for awhile now about my new book club. Some of my sister in laws and my sister and some friends have started a book club. We are reading a book a month and then discussing it. The first book we just finished was "Three Cups of Tea" By Greg Mortenson. It is about a man who was a climber in Pakistan and ended up building schools for children(especially girls), in small villages there. I really enjoyed it. For this next month the book I chose was The Invisible Wall By Harry Bernstein. I am really excited for this book and have heard good things. The one thing I wanted to share on here was http://goodreads.com. Many of my friends and I are on good reads. For those facebook/myspace haters you may like Good Reads. It is basically a social networking site with the sole purpose to discuss books you have read or are currently reading. You can also look at tons of reviews for books you are thinking about reading. I know many of you are big book lovers and thought you may want to check it out!

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. We hung out at our house on Christmas Eve and spent some time with my cousins. On Christmas Day we went over to Thaddeus brother and his wifes house (Josh and Sarah). We had a lot of fun. Here is our fam in front of their tree. I just had to write this post just for Amy. Today Thaddeus and I got new cell phones. Thaddeus has been very busy with his new law office and shuffling between his office and the courthouse. He has been searching for over a month now and researching what phone would be the best to have with internet/web calendar capabilities. After a long search he settled on the iphone. Yes, many of you are saying that sounds cool, great. But considering this post is just for Amy it is hilarious. I can remember many a times sitting at the Butchers house and Thaddeus and Amy fighting over MACs, ipods and anything else made my Apple. I just thought Amy might get a kick out of the fact that Thaddeus is now a proud owner of an Apple product.

I also would just like to say it is pretty freaking sweet. There are all sorts of functions on it and it is just fun to play around with. I got a new phone as well. Although I would have loved the iphone at this point we are not made of money and I can't justify the monthly media charge! I got a new Samsung Propel, which will do just fine for me.

This is what it looks like currently outside. I am afraid to say the snow has finally come and looking at the forecast for the week I don't know if it is going to stop anytime soon. Last night one of the guys Josh (Thaddeus's brother) works with invited us over for a big celebration at their house. They are very Catholic and were celebrating Mary's birthday. It was a lot of fun to get to see a different culture. We ate a lot of fresh tortillas, rice, beans, pork, goat and lamb. It was delicious!!!

My cousins moved here a few months ago and they are big into geocashing. Basically it is a treasure hunt where you use a GPS system and clues to find a hidden prize. We are currently working on a series of geos cashes that will lead up to one final coordinate. It is set up as a clue game and it pretty fun. Here we are last weekend at two different cashes.

Last weekend was the Christmas Party for Thaddeus office. It was a lot of fun. We had it over at the other attorney he works with house. She had this enormous beautiful tree. I won this hat and nose in the White Elephant game and then my sweater is a hideous design I made. I attached red bows and jingle bells to it. I didn't win the contest but I did jingle all night long!

It is pretty crazy that today is December 8th and besides one freak snowstorm the beggining of October we have gotten nothing in the area of whiteness. I am now partially happy partially not happy to report the white stuff is falling outside. Although the forecast looks slim for not really getting alot over the next two weeks leading up to Christmas, that can always change. I will post some pics later when I get home. ( I don't have my camera cord at work). I also have some pics I took from this weekend to share.

I have been enjoying reading all of my friends and families blogs so much that when I sit down to update my blog I have no fun things to say or show at all. This past month has been really busy. Thaddeus's office is going well and he has been getting a lot of business. For the first month of his own office he did better than he thought he would which is nice.

My job has been going well. We have quite a few people coming in looking for jobs but unfortunately not a lot of jobs available right now. A few weeks ago a man was very upset when we told him we were not hiring him and he freaked out and punched our office manager in the face. It was pretty crazy and we had to call the cops. Please pray that as the economy gets worse we can handle people really carefully.

Thanksgiving went really well. We ended up having quite a few people. My cousin Sally and Eric and their two kids Leentje and Cole came. They brought a turkey frier and we made fried turkey. It was so moist and delicious. My other cousin Christy came with her boyfriend David. She brought some delicious pies. My two brother in law and sister in laws came and one of my sister in laws parents. And then there was Thaddeus and I , my parents and my sis. We had a full house and a lot of food. It was nice to be back around family for Thanksgiving. That was something we really missed while we were in Minnesota. (Although we loved our adopted family, The Butchers, that always invited us along).

Not much new else going on here. For many of you who may not know, Thaddeus has been driving my Honda Civic to work and I have been driving his Sunfire. The Sunfire has been having quite a bit of problems. At the beginning of the summer we realized the car was making some noises and that the air conditioner wasn't working. When we took it in it was going to cost 700 dollars to fix the AC and they said the alternator was going bad and it was going to cost 400 to fix. We decided to not do the AC (yeah the summer was oh so fun without it) and decided Thaddeus would replace the alternator when it went bad. Well since then the car was running fine up until about a month ago. I was on my way home from work and noticed that the needle that shows the engine heat was rising really fast. The car was running really hot. I took it in and sure enough something was wrong. They told us the head gaasket was leaking antifreeze into the engine. They said it would cost 1400 to fix. At that point, we decided we did not want to put any money into the car knowing all the problems it was having and decided to let it die. (Hence the reason I have been driving it so Thaddeus didnt get stuck somewhere and be late for something important-like court.)

Well last week it shut down on me and then restarted, then yesterday I went to pull out of my parking spot at work and it shut down and would not start back up. We jumped it and it started but as soon as I took it out of park it turned off again. I am sad to say but it looks like I will be calling the kidney foundation for it to be towed. Last week when it shut off we realized our time was short and began to look for a new car. Thaddeus found this truck that he really liked. We wanted a car we could just pay cash for until we pay off our student loans. Thaddeus is going to test drive it today but it looks like we will be able to get it for a really amazing price. So hopefully when he test drives it everything looks good. If so I will have pictures to post soon. He is so so excited at the idea of getting a truck, lol. Well now that I have bored you with my long story you cannot complain I have not updated.

I just wanted to update you all as to Thaddeus current position. This week is going to be his last week at the law firm he has been working at. He has been there for six months and it has been a great experience where he has grasped a wealth of knowledge. Starting the first he will be starting up his own practice. God has already provided a few clients and hopefully word will spread and he can grow his business even more. God has provided a great office space for him. He is also looking at office sharing with another Christian attorney and they are currently looking for buildings to buy. God is good. Hey guys I just wanted to say thank you so so much for all your love and support over the past few weeks. It has been a rough time but we know God has a plan and that everything will work out. Washington

I know it has been forever. Thaddeus and I traveled to Washington a few weeks ago to hang out with my sister and help her pack up and move back to Utah. I know crazy isn't it. Natalie has not lived in Utah in 10 years. It was fun to get to see where she has spent a lot of her time these last couple of years while in school and now while working. We flew into Seattle and then drove back to her place. I had to take the picture below especially for Amy. This is the first original Starbucks. On the drive back to Utah we stopped at Multinomah Falls. It was very pretty. The scenery all over the place was breathtaking. Of course it rained the entire time we were there so that was kind of a bummer but beautiful none the less.

My new best friend. My cousin sent me this in the mail the other day and thank heavens it was just in time. Since my belly has begun to stretch this belly butter has become my new best friend. Although many people say there is no research to support it working I am at least going to try. Day and night I rub this butter all over my belly and my sides. Oh yeah so fun to constantly smell like cocoa butter. The thing I like about Mama Bee is that the cocoa butter is not quite as strong as the other I have. Please please pray it works like it says. :) I will let you know as time moves along. (and my waistline)

I heard the coolest thing last night and I am very excited to share. My dad delivers UPS in Washington Terrace and a woman at the city building said that they are going to be putting a gourmet food grocery store from Minnesota on the corner. He did not catch the name but I am guessing it will be Kowalski's or Byerly's. YEAHHHHH I am so excited! It will be 1/2 mile from me.

I know, I know it has been forever and ever since I updated. I keep meaning to and just busy myself with other things. Below I have a few posts from what I have been doing these past few months. Mostly I have just been busy working. I am very excited to announce officially in words on my blog (although the ticker on the side of the screen makes it obvious) that I am indeed pregnant. Thaddeus and I and the rest of my family are super excited. I am currently over the 15 week point and I am feeling great. I have been very blessed not to be sick at all and have only experienced some massive tiredness. We do not know the sex of the baby yet but do hope to find out at my next appointment which will be on October 1st. Hopefully the baby cooperates. I would love to hear your guesses. I have not done much shoppping yet, mostly because I feel like it is eons away(my due date is March 13th) and there is not a whole lot of gender neutral anything. I will hopefully take pictures from my ultrasounds soon so you can see the baby a little more up close and personal. They do an ultrasound every time I go in and then record it all on a DVD for me it is pretty sweet. It was amazing to see the baby go from a dot inside a blob to actually being able to see the head, body, legs, etc. Many of you have asked about pictures of me and a possible baby bump. I thankfully have not gained too much weight yet but Thaddeus did say to me this morning that he thought I was getting a cute baby bump. So I guess I will take pictures and those will be soon coming. Don't get too excited (it more just looks like I put on a few lbs in my middle section). Well I hope everyone is doing well and I hope to be better about posting here in the future.

Women's Retreat!

A few weekends ago I was able to travel to Las Vegas to go to a womens conference. It was my mom and I and two other of my moms friends. (We often go golfing together with our husbands). It was an awesome conference. We had Beth Moore, Kay Arthur and Priscilla Shirra as speakers. I definitely reccomend all of them if you ever get a chance to hear them live. What is a trip to Las Vegas without finding an In-N-Out to eat at. OH YEAH, it had been so long but still tasted so good.
Kind of a random thing. The two women with my mom and I are germaphobes, lol. They literally brought a plastic bag to put the remote control in at the hotel so they wouldn't have to touch it. It cracked me up so much I had to take a picture.

Paul's Wedding In Iowa

In July we went to Iowa for my cousin Paul's wedding and to vist my grandma. Below is my sister and I posing by the sign going into Hartley. I have always wanted to take a picture by the sign so finally here is it. One of the nights we were there we went up to my aunt and uncles lake house on Okoboji and rode around in their boat. It was a beautiful night.

We had a lot of fun in Iowa. It was so good to see my grandma again. Although she is taking each day at a time I think she is coping well with my grandpa's passing. I was also able to announce to my parents and sister at the same time that I was pregnant. They were all in a bit of shock, since Thaddeus always joked about it.

Their little girls have grown so much since seeing them about a month ago. We are excited as they move on from Denver to their new home. As many of you may know Thaddeus graduated from law school in December, took the bar in February, found out he had passed the bar in April and officially was sworn in to the Utah State Bar to practice law this past Friday. Attorney at Law

Some of you may have already heard but Thaddeus got a job. He is the newest Associate at the law firm of Farr, Kaufman, Sullivan, Jensen, Medsker, Olds, & Nichols. More commonly referred to in the Ogden area as Farr, Kaufman. We were ecstatic when Thaddeus had more than one job offer in the Ogden area. He is enjoying his job and the fact that he is not having to take the time to commute to Salt Lake. Here is a picture of him hard at work in his office. His office is quite neat with one wall being brick. We bought this oil painting for the wall and it looks quite nice in the office. We are going to paint the walls and put up some trim, so I will show you more pics when that gets done.
Thaddeus's first official start date for the law firm was May 1. He has been quite busy since then working for the attorney's in the office. He has his official swearing in ceremony next Friday and then he will be able to begin getting clients of his own. We are both very excited and thankful for this opportunity God has given him in the Ogden area.

Iowa

The last day in Denver we heard the sad news that my grandfather passed away in his sleep in Iowa. My parents and I flew out from Salt Lake the following day to Iowa to be with my dad's family. On the way there we had a layover in Minneapolis and I was very excited to get a Caribou Coffee, it had been way too long. It was great to see my cousins and spend time with my grandma during this difficult time. It was also great to see Natalie, because she flew out as well. My cousins Paul, Josh, Mat, me and Natalie after the Memorial Service. Although it was an emotional week it really went well.
Thank you so much for all the cards and flowers and support. While we were in Iowa my grandma received over 400 cards at the house on top of many others bringing over food. Although my grandfather would have loved to turn 90 (one month away), it was good to know he had such a long life.

Last Saturday, Thaddeus and I went and watched our friends Kimber and Chaz perform for the very first time. They both did an amazing job and there were about 60 people crammed into a little coffee shop to watch them. It was a lot of fun.

Work and PLAY

Since Thaddeus has finished the BAR, of course he and my father have golfed whenever possible. They golfed last Saturday and had to drive a ways to get to a course that was open and didn't have snow all over the course. The funny thing was they golfed 18 in the morning and about an hour after they finished it snowed three inches. You have got to love Utah weather. My job has been going well. It seems busy to me but my coworkers tell me that it will be ten times busier when summer rolls around. So we will see how the next few months progress.

Thaddeus has met with quite a few attorneys since taking the BAR and is currently doing some work for an attorney in the area. She has given him a lot of work and a lot of good guidance. She has also introduced him to many other local attorneys. We originally thought he would have to travel to Salt Lake to work but right now it seems there are definite possibilities of work right here in Ogden. Many of the attorneys he has already met with are encouraging him to open up his own practice and they will send their extra work his way. Eventually this is something Thaddeus had wanted to do but wasn't so sure he wanted to do it right out of the gate. Right now he is enjoying getting experience working with this attorney, looking over his options, and praying, while he awaits the results of the BAR. They said it takes 8-10 weeks from the time you take it so he still has 7 or so weeks to go.

Arena Football-UTAH BLAZE

Last weekend a friend from church offered us free tickets to go see the UTAH BLAZE. They are a pro indoor football team. We went to the game and had really good seats. We lost 62-63 after missing a field goal at the end to win so it was kind of a bummer. I did really enjoy my first Arena football experience nonetheless.

Steven Curtis Chapman

So I don't know if many of you remember Steven Curtis Chapman but I grew up on his music. He came to Utah a few weeks ago and I went to the concert. It reminded me yet again of how much I love going to Christian concerts. Before he came out he had an opening act and it just so happened to be his son. Caleb Chapman was really good. He had a little group and sounded a lot like his dad.
I really enjoyed the concert and I saw a lot of people there I hadn't seen in years.

The BAR exam

Well I just got back from dropping Thaddeus off at a hotel in Salt Lake. Everyone please pray for Thaddeus tomorrow and Wednesday as he takes the BAR exam. He has to be there at 8 am tomorrow and it will go until about 5:30 pm. The same goes for Wednesday. As he jokingly says, he is praying God will give him perfect recall and a photographic memory for the next two days.

Sorry it has been so long since I last posted. I was very blessed to apply, interview, and start a job all within the same week. I have now officially been there just over two weeks and I am really enjoying it. There is a lot to learn but I feel as if I am catching on. Please continue to pray for Thaddeus as he continues to study for the bar. It is now less than a month away.

I thought I would share this lovely picture of the mountains I took last weekend. Since then we have had three more storms. It seriously does not seem to want to stop snowing and last night we had another 10 inches. It has been great to get all the moisture to possibly get us out of the drought Utah has been in for a few years but is not always the most fun to drive in.

My friend Amy had her beautiful twin daughters a little over a week ago and they are doing well. Their names are Elyse and Felicity. They were 3 lbs and 3 lbs 7 ounces at birth and are simply adorable. Check out pictures of them by clicking The Butchers on the left of the page.

Thaddeus and I feel like we shoveled all day. We have gotten storm after storm after storm since arriving. I can't remember this much snow since I was little. We got about 20 inches here today and no I am not joking.

Thaddeus has been busy studying for the bar and I have been looking for jobs. Last night we had a lot of fun and went to the Jazz game and saw them win. This morning Thaddeus and I shoveled the snow. It is craziness. I don't think I have seen this much snow fall since I was little. The mailbox was almost completely buried, but Thaddeus dug it out so as it continues to snow we actually have some place to put the snow.

The last few weeks...

I know it has been quite awhile since I last posted. Thaddeus and I have been quite busy. I finished up work on December 14 and Thaddeus finished up school on the 15th. We then packed up the moving truck and moved out on the 16th. We stayed overnight at my grandparents in Iowa that night and then drove all the way back to Utah the following day. We decided to press on with the driving to avoid some snow storms. My sister then arrived in Utah on Thursday and my mom was off school then as well. We had a wonderful Christmas spending time with my sister and parents and Thaddeus's brothers. We were very happy to see Sam, Thaddeus's youngest brother who was back in town. He is in the Army. My sister had to fly back to Washington on Christmas Day and then two days later Thaddeus and I took a trip with his brother and his wife to Moab, Utah. It was colder than we expected but we still were able to get in a good hike.

When we returned to Utah we were able to get in some bowling with the family. My mom bought my dad, Thaddeus, her and me bowling shoes. The below picture shows the three of theirs because mine had not come in yet. They have since arrived and are an awesome metallic purple. (I will post a picture later of them)
We have been quite busy for the last couple of weeks and it seems to continue. Thaddeus has begun studying dilligently for the Bar exam which is on February 27th and 28th and I have begun looking for a job. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I am hoping to send out a picture with our new address and a letter detailing this past year, look for it in a mailbox near you. :)
